Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

orderd my LSX 5.3 engine from http://bdturnkeyengines.com/
build completion date is like april 24
my 5.3 is out of a wrecked 05 silverado 4x4 96,000 miles...had him throw the zo6 cam and springs in. Heres a picture of one of his completed engines..Guy is awesome to deal with. Oh and I am keeping my tko-600 5speed..should be a fun and reliable combo..i am done with the street strip nitrous motor lol..a lot of fun but a whole lot of wrenching.

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

So I realized that i never posted pictures for all the stuff i did pre-the shipping new paint job debacle...
-LIne lock
-hydraulic rear parking brake in cab
-new spec stage 3 clutch
-converted to a hydraulic throwout bearing set up from mcloud and ditched the mechanical linkage.
here are pics...let me know if you have any questions

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

I like the under dash proportioning valve setup. I haven't seen that done yet.

Dude once both of our trucks are done we need to meet them up.

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

Yeah man thanks for the props..basically my parking brake was old and destroyed and the army wouldnt ship it without a parking brake so i was like screw it ..think outside the box lol..put in hurst roll control on the front brakes and manual line lock as a parking brake on the rear tires..works really well. It was also my first time making my own brake lines..pretty easy and really cheep when you buy in bulk however i learned quality tools make this job easier. Yeah it would be nice to meet up with the trucks as well

Nice man! I always love it when the paint lays real flat prior to color sanding. This equates to really good prep. Looks like you found a good shop. Keep the pics a coming.

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

fuel cell will get painted and installed this week ..new rear bumper is ordered...new grill will get installed this week and final buff of paint. I went with a 20 gallon aeromotive with an internal a1000 pump and aeromotive fuel pressure regulator in preperation for my lsx swap.

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

thanks!...yeah only guys on here would even notice all the stuff gone to make it looks slick. (shaved stake bed pockets, shaved rear cab light..welded up trim holes uppers and lowers, removed badges and welded holes, shave marker lights, shaved antena hole) I think it looks like a freight train sittin still.

Nice looking truck, love the paint and love that motor your putting in. Sorry to hear about the trouble you had with shipping it back. Sucks when people don't care about others peoples stuff.

THanks! yeah what are you going to do..ended up being a blessing i guess..cause i found all that rot and am getting a much nicer paint job..but it was a pain in the ass to get the shipping company to pay for damages

Re: Project Mistaken Identity (70cst-->67 GMC)

Fuel cell looks nice. I get what you were saying about it's now on the bed side.

Have you thought about what you're going to do about the LS harness? I'll throw a pitch in for a speartech harness ( http://www.speartech.com/ ). Speartech runs the LS and then get a new whole harness from American Auto Wire. ( maybe get speartech to integrate the two? Should only be a power wire though, might not be worth it to get them to integrate it). I did my whole truck with one and it was super easy man as long as you can solder and use heat shrink you'll be more than fine. (I'm thinking you need an American Auto wire Part# 510089). Anyway don't buy it from summit unless it's the cheapest or if you get them to price match. I got mine for about 100 less off of amazon.

Also, if you're wanting to run a cheap fuel pressure regulator if one's not included on you fuel rail, I'd consider running a C5 corvette fuel filter / fuel pressure regulator combo. (About 50-80 bucks ish and no -AN fittings or line required Wix #33737 or AcDelco: #GF822 ). Just high pressure fuel injection rubber hose. I ran my LS1/T-56 swapped Rx7 like that for 4 years with zero issue.

My .15 cents.
