47 Push to start Ignition conversion

Has anyone had any luck with a pts ignition system, I'd like to keep it in the factory ignition hole, without drilling it out. I can't seem to find any that are 1".

Re: 47 Push to start Ignition conversion

Are you just trying to add a push button to run a later starter or ??? Guess I am not clear on exactly what you are attempting to do.

For years I ran a heavy duty push button starter switch under the dash where I could easily reach it with my left hand when I turned the key on with my right hand. A friend who rode with me all the time didn't know it was even there. At another time I lost my keys one night and wired in a toggle switch and push button side by side to the right of the ignition switch. Flip the toggle, hit the push button an go. All hidden under the edge of the dash.

From experience that wasn't good the only thing that fits in the stock hole for the stock ignition switch is a stock ignition switch or maybe one of the "updated" switches that has key start from one of the truck trinket vendors. Universal switches will always come loose in the hole. It isn't if it's when they will.

Re: 47 Push to start Ignition conversion

Go to Tractor Supply and look at the tractor ignition switches. Oliver and Case use a 1” hole. If you’re planning on keeping the stomp start, look at the Allis Switches.

Re: 47 Push to start Ignition conversion

Just thinking, if you are trying to change the foot stomp pedal to electric you could use a foot stomp button for a tractor like this one. It could be fastened from the engine side so the push button part was all that went though the hole to the inside. Make an adapter to use the stock starter top and connect a hot wire to one side of the switch and a wire to the S post on the solenoid to the other. https://www.amazon.com/R3682-Tractor.../dp/B016AO4JJM

Re: 47 Push to start Ignition conversion

I am actually trying to use a RFID keyless entry push to start system like in the newer vehicles.

Sorry I wasn't clear on that.
