Pretty sure Santa Barbara has all these stupid laws beat! Sometimes I'm ashamed to say I'm a Californian.

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
I believe every American has the right to bear straws if they so choose. But to be worthy of this right we must see to it that we all dispose of them properly... and don't make that gurgling sound at the bottom!
What kind of straw do they recommend? Bamboo? I mean there are some who need to use straws. I for one had a broken jaw wired shut and a straw was the only way I could eat. Their moles. I figure they wouldn't like you shooting into the air How many here are guilty of "tampering" with their vehicle's devices if you know what I mean... hmmm? (Again, don't answer. Wouldn't want the Feds coming down on us)

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
California is talking 6 months in jail and a $1000 fine to servers giving out plastic straws, under certain conditions. The legislature is taking some serious heat for that. Pretty stupid, if you ask me.

Have the politicians solved all the bigger issues out there and find they have nothing to do so now they go after straws ? Yeah, that's nuts.

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Not a great believer in law. I try to do the right thing and not hurt things, including people (but they annoy the crap out of me), animals and machinery, etc. I try not to step on bugs while walking in the park. Seriously!?
Speed limits. I'm from far out in the country and have had jobs that required driving. That said, my 10 over is pretty tame compared to the GF doing 120 for a stretch. On my 21st birthday I got my 21st speeding ticket (on the red kawi) if that says anything. I'm a few years older now. Tickets should be written on left lane morons if I'm allowed to expand the thread...

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Nope. That being said, I've never spent a night in jail. Not for lack of trying, just lucky I guess.
They was going to arrest me for streaking on my last day of high school, but there was insufficient evidence.

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
I remember, at one time at least, it was illegal to wear spiked heals in Carmel, CA. Now if I see a guy wearing spiked heals I don't care where it is or the fact that I'm not law enforcement, I'm going to arrest that S.O.B! I think it was targeted at women, though. Maybe the historic sidewalk couldn't take it, sandy ground causing too many turned ankles? Pokes holes in sand crab homes causing roof to leak? Clint Eastwood just plain didn't like'em? Who knows?

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Me too! Don't tell anyone, I wouldn't want this floating around the internet, but on my Harley I bought new in '90 I peeled all the tire pressure warnings off the rim and any other such sticker including one with all the important kinda like a VIN-plate but a sticker. I figure it has the VIN stamped into the frame and a sticker is just a sticker.
The shop I used for custom exhaust would not do dual exhaust on my '90 Blazer, this was back in the '90s. I had two new mufflers and catalytic converters, even planned to exit it behind rear tires like factory. Nope, MD dept of environment was feuding with dept of trans on enforcing emission laws to the T. It read that exhaust on vehicles must remain same diameter, length, and exit in same fashion as factory. If a vehicle with same chassis and engine got something different in your year or newer you could change to that. So if they had started putting dual exhaust after my Blazer was made it would be ok. I said screw the law and found a place out in the country with an exhaust guy who didn't give a crap about the 50k fine and loss of license. I ended up with a better flowing design than factory with all emissions equipment (2 cats instead of one) in place that helped make more power from less throttle, burning less fuel, creating less emissions... and I broke the emissions law by doing so!

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Tim, that sounds a lot like California's laws against any exhaust system modifications back in the early eighties, iirc. Could still be on the books for all I know, but doesn't seem to be enforced much. Still gotta keep the cats etc. but back in the day, mufflers had to be stock, no glasspacks allowed...... unless you signed some sort of waiver.

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Just remembered something. I bought my '95 Suburban in GA. So I put insurance on it, rented a car one way, and went for it. I bought it from the Cobb County Govt, it was a Sheriffs Dept K-9 unit. I got there good and early Friday morning and commented to the clerk I did that to leave plenty of time for the DMV to get a temporary tag. She informed me that they don't issue those, you keep your paperwork with you and you have 10 days to get permanent tags. Uhhh.... that's fine for Georgia, but I had to drive through Tennessee, Virginia, W Virginia, and Maryland. To get a temp tag from MD I would have needed to have the title. So I drove from Marietta, GA back to Mt. Airy, MD with no tag what so ever, buck naked. Just went on up the road with it.

Lucky you didn't get pulled over for anything, considering you were in your birthday suit the entire trip. Must have made for some interesting fuel stops!

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Speeding, but what I find really curious is every now and there there are big blow-ups on other forums about speeding on public roadways, and some people claim they don't and never have. One of them is a Challenger forum! Sorry, people but if you say you never speed I'm calling BS...IMPOSSIBLE!
Springfield, MO now has an ordinance that you can't warm up your car if you're not in it. Supposedly in an attempt to curb car thefts. I get the spirit of it...but come write me a ticket while I'm warming up a locked car, with a remote start, and the key fob is in my had. I dare YA. Other cities have taken to writing citizens tickets in suburban driveways, and they can be steep penalties. pffft.

Re: Are You 100% Obedient Of All Laws?
Corpus Christi Texas put out an arrest warrant on my wife for tree trimmings too close to the street at a rent house we own. They did not care that we don't live there and thus had no knowledge of the tree trimmings. Fine was to be $5500 (yes, you are reading it right) but if she would plead guilty and pay $306 court cost that would end the matter.
