Once I get it a little more stripped I will get with Sarah and set up a day to bring it up to you to look at.

Just had a rendering done by Gerald @whatadesigns. Thanks to N2trux for the heads up on him. It turned out amazing, I can't stop looking at it!

Re: Project "3Face"

Thanks Mike! It turned out good. I was really unsure how the black roof would look, but I think it fits quite nicely with the truck.

Thanks Dean! I've seen a few trucks online with the faux vinyl top but the gloss black looks killer. My dad bought a new 69 Ford out of high school that was orange with the black fake vinyl roof, so it kind of inspired me on this one.

Re: Project "3Face"

Well it has been pretty slow going on the truck lately but I have a few small updates.

My wife and her sister have started their own photography business, so I've been helping locate and restore/refresh props. Also spent most of my days off watching my son while they do shoots, which is perfectly fine with me.

I've also been getting my turbo Buick back into shape after smoking the trans and converter (that was "bullet-proof" with maybe 100 miles and 5 passes on it). I got it rebuilt and got a new PTC converter and got it installed back in April or May. Put new valve springs in it and a new pass side motor mount (PITA). Finished up installing the exhaust after getting frustrated fighting it 5 or 6 years ago and just dumping it at the mufflers. I was finally able to pressure test the trans and break it in with a few street miles 2 weeks ago as I got it ready for the Buick vs Ford Shootout in Noble, OK last Saturday. It made a good for me qualifying pass 12.45 @ 111 mph (fastest I've been in the car) with a HORRIBLE 60 ft. I did get smoked in my elim race by a 11.70 sec Mustang.

And lastly I've spent the past year getting in shape. I've lost right at 60 lbs since last November. I started running last April doing a couch to 5k training app and completed it. I've ran 2 5Ks since and will run another one Nov 8. So for never being much of a runner, I feel like I'm doing pretty good.

Re: Project "3Face"

OK, so back to the truck. I'm still trying to strip it down and get it ready to send to Kyle to do the rust repair and start the body work.

I've gotten the marker lights and taillights/back up lights and buckets off. I got the taillight harness out. (butchered up, would you expect anything less?)

Bed inner fenders are off. That was a tough job as the carriage bolts would spin and it was difficult to get a grip on the heads. I didn't want to try to cut the heads off because I didn't want any holes cut in the bed floor, which I guarantee I would have done.

I was able to cut and grind off the remaining bracket pieces of the custom trailer hitch.

I have got the cab almost stripped. All that is left now is the steering column and wheel, pedal assembly, and wiring. Glove box door, ash tray, and cluster are out. Heater box has been gone for awhile but I don't know if I put that in previous updates.

I thought some of you may enjoy the custom cluster so I took a few pics.
Note the incorrect gas gauge, the 3 O'Reilly aftermarket gauges (why 2 temp gauges????), and the complete annihilation of the tin/circuit/lens. Looks like its pretty much scrap at this point. I don't know what he did with the wiper switch either. It seemed like a push button switch (maybe washers?) There is a toggle switch under the dash that controls the wipers.

And that's about all for now. Hopefully I can start removing the wiring mess the next couple of days. The weather is getting ideal so I should be able to get some stuff done on it.

Re: Project "3Face"

Great start, at least most of the parts made up something that resembled a truck. I drove to KC and brought back scraps that looked like they were for a truck.

It can be fixed but in the meantime I have my eyes open for a solid gate.
I have a solid (no letter) tailgate if you want to trade? Our trucks would sure look funny until they get painted to match! lol.

I need to find a good paint and body shop in the local area!

Re: Project "3Face"

Got a few small updates since it's been awhile. Mostly gathering parts but I've done a few small things lately.

Went to Arizona over New Years and met up with T Korinek. I got a rust free core support off of him and strapped it to the roof for the drive home.

Decoded it was time to hunt down a straight tailgate. Holliday and I went on a mission to find a pair of straight tailgates so we could each have one. He won and tracked down a pair and I bought one off of him.

Re: Project "3Face"

This past Sunday I found out 67cheby was bringing Cloud9 down to a local car show. Talked to him a little bit before and he had a pair of NOS hood hinges he brought down to sell me. Such a nice truck and I'm glad I got to see it in person.

Re: Project "3Face"

After seeing that truck in person, I was inspired to get some work done on mine. I spent a few minutes Sunday and Monday evening removing my badly hacked up wiring harnesses. I'm pretty shocked that this truck hasn't caught on fire up to this point. Oem fuse box is long gone. He had one wired in and mounted on the kick panel. He added a few pounds of electrical tape to top it all off.

Re: Project "3Face"

Picked up a parts truck. My buddy and I split it. It's a 67 1/2 ton long bed with 3/4 ton front suspension. Pretty rough cab and the guy robbed the hood, pass door, seat, and steering column. Has some neat stuff like a high hump, radio delete cowl, and I found the radio delete plate in the glove box.

Thankfully I'm at a spot now where there shouldn't be any more surprises. The custom power steering pump bracket is about the only thing left of his handiwork.

Re: Project "3Face 69 SWB"

Went out to turn the shop lights off this morning and decided to mess with the truck a little since it's so nice outside. Looking at what all I need to remove or disconnect in order to pull the motor, I noticed something strange with the custom power steering pump brackets. So after all this time, I found my front bumper brackets! I wondered why there weren't any on to begin with.

Looks like you are finding some nice parts down in that part of the state! If you run across any more decent tailgates, I'm always looking for them. Hope to see your project soon.
Oh yeah, that is one sweet looking Buick! I wish I had known about the Buick/ford shoot out. I love me some Buicks

Re: Project "3Face 69 SWB"

Thanks Mike! Buick vs ford has been moved earlier this year to Sept 19th I think. I'll be there, lots of cool cars always show. They let Pontiac, olds, gmc trucks, and caddys run on our side too. Scroll up a few posts and look for member Holliday. Kris is down here by me and he's got a straight tailgate on the parts board right now. He let me take it home and mock it up. I chose the one without trim holes but the one he is selling is pretty good. He's got lots of good pics of it.
