Re: 1972 truck ashtray sliders

Not to hijack your broken part, but is '72 special in that it doesn't use the ball bearings? Is that '72 only?

Can't help, but want to learn the trivia if you'll indulge...

Re: 1972 truck ashtray sliders

They brake all of the time, don't feel bad.
When you say the slider is broken do you mean that the slider on the tray is broke, or do you mean the slider on the dash is broke?

Re: 1972 truck ashtray sliders

I've purchased used sliders off the parts board and then used epoxy to glue them in place and had them last for a good long time over 10years or so till I got rid of the truck

The spot weld on mine broke on one side which made my the astray sit crooked in the dash. I put a cheap little vice grip on it behind the dash to hold it together. Last week, I heard the vice grip chirping behind the dash. It wore out (cheap china-made crap). I went to A-zone and bought another cheap china-made piece of crap vice grip and re-clamped it.
