Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

I would just like to point out that Stacey owns his studio and produces his show because he has a unique style, and I absolutely love it. Not only is he a true car guy, unlike most of the other car show guys, but he is also a great host. His show is the only one I watch because I don't really care about the quality of his gettup, just the quality of his show.

I fully agree with ya! Stacy has helped me with info many a time and his shows are just plain fun to watch! The only thing for me is the budget thing....

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

Just found this thread while googling "Does Stacy David wear a wig?"
I'm still not sure but, I feel much better about myself knowing I'm not the only one who has issues with some of these car show hosts (the goobers on Trucks, the squeaker on All Girls Garage, the nasty stache on My Classic Car)...
Annoying how one quirky host ruins the experience.

I am so glad I cut cable way back in 2008 and haven't looked back. I got tired of paying for 140 channels with nothing to watch.

Come to think of it, he's had the EXACT same haircut, every show, since the first time I saw him on Trucks! until now...

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

I'd like to see Stacey tone it down just a little bit.. He's having fun so the laughing and giggles are fine with me.. But the throwing of parts and pieces, whether they're being discarded or destined to be put on the vehicles, needs to stop..

What really has turned me off is that SR-71 Ford panel truck he's building.. Who in hades designed that thing.. Why they didn't narrow the rear end housing and what ever else needed to be modified to get those big slicks up inside the fenders?? I've modified frames and I know exactly what work is involved. The nose down and raised rear gives the truck an East Texas Dung Beetle stance. With the engine they built, I would have built the truck as an early blown gasser and given it a nose high stance.

Despite the fact that the show is actually an infomercial, and except for the above mentioned "flaws", I think the show is well put together and well presented...

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

.
The "show" has degenerated into nothing more than an infomercial as far as I can tell. It shows up on my DVR list time after time with either a rerun of an SR-71 episode or a full blown advert for his sponsors. Delete. Kind of sad really as I enjoyed his style and most of the content when it was new and interesting rather than just a ploy to put product in front of cameras!

The hair gods were unkind to him unfortunately. He was gifted with lots of it but not in a good way!

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

I let the DVR fill up with these shows then watch them and FF through all the crap parts. I can watch one in 10 mins. and catch all the stuff I want to see.

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

I prefer Stacey to most of the other shows. He seems to have at least a little knowledge and his project vehicles are better. He sure could use a visit to a marine base for a haircut though.

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

I don't have a problem with Stacy or his hair. I have never met him but I hear he is as friendly, nice, and helpful as he appears on his show. Given that, I believe he is a genuine person and the rest is TV production BS. He obviously comes from get your hands dirty, tear it down/build it up origins, unlike pretty much any other made for automotive TV hosts out there.

As far as his hair goes, some people are stable confident, and secure with themselves enough to be rock steady, know what I like, no need to follow kind of people. The kind of person I've always looked to for influence. I think it's a good time for all who have comments on his hair to proudly post a picture of themselves. I can start it off to get people off the couch

That was a few years ago. I had a long ponytail like I had in the '70s. I hadn't worn my hair that long in many years. My life long friend always wore his hair pulled back in a ponytail same as ever till the day he passed from lung cancer. It was my reaction to let my hair grow again to honor such a great person who passed far too early. I could tell I was being judged by my hair pretty much on a daily basis. There were people meeting me for the first time and those who knew me a long time as a shorter hair person. I thought it so odd and it brought back how the hair back in the day created prejudice and discrimination. To this day the (righteous) rebel in me wants to let it grow to show people it doesn't mean squat, that good people come in all looks. I'm always overdue when my hair gets cut. When I cut the ponytail off I donated it to Locks of Love.

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

K, I've had a job where I've had to keep my hair short for 30+ years. I will be retiring in the not too distant future. I tell my wife to standby, because I won't be shaving, another requirement I've had, nor will I be cutting my hair for a while.

As far as Stacey David goes, I met him at SEMA many years ago, before he became really popular. He was doing "TRUCKS!" at that time. We actually spent 15-20 minutes talking. He was a super nice guy! I can't imagine that he's changed much either. He didn't have to take any of his time to chat with me, but he chose to. To me, that says a lot about his character.

Re: Stacey David, what's up with his?

He is a very nice guy ,I have talked to him a couple of times , his shop is a couple of miles from my house . But yes , it drives me crazy when he throws everything he removes from a vehicle, way too much cheese and cornball , but I guess that’s just part of the show . He has had some pretty cool builds , I still love Copperhead. Many times I have thought , gee I have a project for you , right down the road ....
