5.3L rattle at freeway speeds?

On my 01 z71 with a 5.3l I can here a rattle noise that sounds like it is coming from the engine. I can only here it with the windows up and the radio down. It only happens at speeds above 50. Any ideas?

Re: 5.3L rattle at freeway speeds?

It is a dull rattle when the radio is turned off. When I'm next Tina jersey barrier or wall I can hear it louder with the windows down. Replaced u-joints, rebuilt transfer case, checked and serviced both diffs and i put it in neutral and shut the motor off and still heard it both huns are new and I pulled the cv axles and still heard it.

Re: 5.3L rattle at freeway speeds?

are you sure its not some kind of exhaust rattle or heat sheild?

could be a brake pad

seems like you did a lot of work to track down a rattle
