Interior Conversion

Any one put a slit bench from a late model in there truck? I got a stick and was wondering what would fit nicely. I've heard 91 and up is a good fit. I guess the problem is seat height.

A friend of mine put this seat in his 70 4x4. I think he said it was out of a 2000 or 2001 Chevy. He said that it almost bolted in perfect. Had to make 2 new holes in the floor. That was it!

yeh, he got lucky. Bought that bench from a friend for $200. I offered him $500 for it but he refused. He recently sold the truck so talking him into it now is impossible.

My truck is real bouncy with the stock suspension and the springy seat helps take away some of the bounce... but with a firm seat like that, you're going to feel the bumps quite a bit more, aren't you?

Slick71, I absolutely love your truck, very nice ride.

Duner97, those aren't my seats, they are in a friends truck which he recently sold. Now that you mention how heigh those seats sit, I'm diggin the bench in Slick71's truck even more.

Thanks Pont, but I'll trade ya trucks anyday...I'd love to have your truck. It's got a great stance.

Duner, that's the 2nd seat back. It's sits higher than the stock seat, but I like it, especially with the fold down console with cup holders.

What about the gas tank?

I see some great interiors, but I'm wondering.... are most of these later model seats going in cabs with the gas tanks relocated or will these seat work using the in-cab tanks?

I realize you'll lack some adjustment and/or storage with the tank in, but will the basic installation work?

I've been reading this site for a while and you guys have a good one. I just got back to the 67-72's with the purchase of a 1972 Super Cheyenne K20. Growing up, my dad had a beater 69 c10 with the staight 6, 3 on the tree....funky, rusty orange and COOL!

It's weird... my 72 smells the same and makes this 41 year old feel 13 again..

I appreciate any input.....

Dutch, as far as I can tell, there shouldn't be any problems mounting a late model bench with the tank still in the cab. Like you said, it might affect adjustment from front to rear or even mounting location, but they should still still mount without much trouble. I've read some posts where members have used late model Dodge Ram seats and have problems with the center fold up console hitting the in-cab tank. I guess it just depends on what you're willing to live with and what seats you go with.

Thumbs up I scored a seat!

Bought a 92-99 burb middle seat. New (take out from a conversion joint) in tan LEATHER!

Seat and tank are out, tank's coming back from the radiator shop today. I cleaned the floor metal up and touched up paint yesterday. New mat ready to go in too. I went with the rubber mat since I do use this truck in mild off road (hunting, etc.) situations. I like wiping off the mat rather than shampooing!

Should clean up the interior pretty nice if I can install my seat as well as Slick71 did........

Hey Dutch...good score. There's nothing to the installation. If you run into any problems, shoot me an e-mail and I'll be glad to tell you what I did.

Thumbs up

Thanks Slick71.

I got the tank insulation and mat in this weekend (along with the old seat...couldn't miss out on a nice fall weekend ride!).

My new seat is due here on the 22nd, according to UPS.
