Oil pressure gauge?

05 chevy with a 4.8 automatic. Was driving around no problem and suddenly the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero in less than 20 seconds. Pulled over and had it towed. Went to a shop who put a real gauge on it and it checked out. All was good. Been driving it over 6 months since and no issues. Put a new oil sending unit on it which made no difference so what else could it be?

Re: Oil pressure gauge?

The cluster. Stepper motors(little motors that move the needles) for the gauges are very common on 99-06 trucks.

Have someone with a scan tool(with bi directional controls)perform a sweep on all the gauges. I'm willing to bet your oil pressure gauge wont move

The 05 would say low oil pressure on the DIC if low oil pressure was indicated by the sender.
