Rear cross member tacked in. The tank in its final spot. It hangs down 6 inches. The bumper should cover 80 percent or more...

Starting to make the mounting straps and top frame...

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Working on getting the tank mounts done, I hope to move to rear shock mounts this week then button up the master cylinder mount. Then I will get the c notches in the frame, then off to be sandblasted in a week or two... Im close but been busy with paying work

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Do I really want the Evap stuff? Charcoal canister, another line going up front, wiring and hoping it all works.... Or just program it out and deal with a little fumes?

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Great work. I think it's cool how well those front clips fit these frames, almost like they were designed for them.

As for the Evap shtuff, I would go without it. I contemplated on keeping it on my project myself but didn't want to deal with the lines, wiring, and the canister. Sometimes, simpler is better.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

The tank is done. Straps made, upper cage is tacked in. The upper cage will un-bolt if needed. Filler hose ran thru the frame. All its really lacking is some bolts and a few minutes of welding the cage when I pull it back off... On to rear shock mounts!

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Waiting on correct length shocks... Arg....

Putting in c notches and had to patch the frame on both sides, (by jackstand) it had helper springs on it and someone was pulling stumps and ripped the brackets out of the frame

I hope to finish boxing the frame and get shocks mounted by Sunday...

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

After a week of loosing sleep about shock placement... I decided to mount them the way new Chevy trucks do, rt one pointing forward, lt on pointing back... It gets me a longer shock without mounting them at some stupid angle or putting them in a bind... One mount made... It hangs down about 2 inches below the S10 mount but not anywhere close to the scrub line...

Shocks and cross member mounted. Body back on to run fuel lines, trans lines, vintage air, wiper motor, rough out some wiring, all the fun stuff....

Looks really good. I'm preparing to do a Nova clip install but I don't have the cab and sheet metal handy. Can you post some more pics and dimensions?

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Thats going to be a little different, you will have to put that stuff on to make core support mounts and bumper mounts...

Hey DaveO, I just logged on today and was looking at nothing in particular and ran across your thread. I like what you have done to yours. I have a 56 that I have been playing with and its slow because of money and time but I think we have the best hobby in the world. Keep up the good work!!!
