...darn, that is not good news.
Are you set up 'insurance wise' to get the truck fixed?
If you need some parts you might have to call on some guys on the forum to help you out....
Keep us posted on the future of the truck.
Also and more importantly.....glad everyone walked away ok.....always the best news in events like this.

Re: New pickup owner from England, tyre mount ?

It's Sunday so insurance broker opens tomorrow. Insured for £14000 ($18200.00 US). Agreed value paperwork posted yesterday as renewed last week but insurance company policy is until they receive it they pay only market value. As you can imagine there is no true market value for this car in uk, I have been turning down $20k offers since I got it. Hopefully they won't write it off. What would be great would be if they agree to pay for the repairs at my local classic resto shop. I would colour change it and saddle leather trim the interior then. Problem is parts prices in the UK.....still really emotional about it at the moment though

Re: New pickup owner from England, tyre mount ?

Can understand your emotional connection but things will work out in the long term.

Anything can be repaired...we are all just so glad that neither of you were injured.

Hoods (bonnets) and front panels are available over here...even rear ends etc.

Biggest issue would be if the chassis is twisted or now not fully square...

Lets hope the insurance folk agree to repair it...if they write it off, buy it back and do the repairs yourself.

Stay in touch...

Truck is being delivered to my classic car resto shop today, he is keen to save it. He and insurance assessor will come to a decision hopefully this week.

Parts list alone is coming in at $6k+ shipping and import duties of upto 20%. Labour and paint is over $9k. I'm beginning to think it may be the end of the road. That is without headlight surround correct hood and turn signal surround.
It's at my favoured classic shop awaiting the assessor visit.

Hey Mike, those trucks are pretty simple to work on. If you source used parts and do most of the work yourself (whatever you can do) you'll save probably half that cost at least. Paint and body isn't rocket science, if I could do it at the age of 15 with some skilled guidance, you could surely do it with youtube how-to-videos.

Just my .02 cents . . .

Truck is write off, Cat C or otherwise beyond economical repair. Offered salvage but they wanted too much. Fair payment offered by insurance, so accepted. I will wait till new year and look again. Possibly import my own next time

Sad to see it written off but glad you had an acceptable offer. Maybe bring in a builder and do it your taste in near future. Stay safe mate!
