250 engine stands to mount 5.3

Can I use my original 250 6 cylinder stands in my 67 to mount my 5.3 ? ..... I had planned on using 73 up mounts and dirty dingos but already have the 250 mounts.... has any one done this ?

Yes, I actually like to recommend this as it gives better weight distribution.

Most don't listen to me, though.

I was looking at trans- dap 4204 ..... and put the perches in the v8 holes ? ..... but I think I will have to lose the low mount AC

Don't use anything from Trans-Dapt!!! Go ahead and spend the few extra bucks and get the Dirty Dingo mounts. Ask me how I know to give this advice.

Also, I like to recommend THESE engine stands. Yes, the factory perches will work, but these new tubular stands are stronger and accept the more common urethane motor mounts. However, DO NOT get the rubber engine mounts!!!!! THEY WILL BREAK!!!!! I can show you pictures of what happens to them after about a year of driving.

yup. my supercharged 5.3 is sitting on I6 towers with dirty dingo sliders & stock rubber motor mounts.

been that way for several years now with no issues.

Let me rephrase. The stock style mounts aren't as bad. I'm referring to the cheap Chinese mounts made to work with the tubular perches above. The metal is weak and starts coming breaking apart.

I used the 250 engine stands with my 5.3 swap in my 66 and it worked out great! The motor seems a little lower than most and is definitely farther back which is what I was shooting for. I had to move the engine to the "2 inches forward" location on the adapters to fit the firewall and I love it.

My head is swimming trying to sort through all the motor mount threads and info. And it appears there is great proliferation of options so I'm confused.

I am replacing a 250/3spd in a 65 C10 with a 4.8/4L60 with electric fans.

Dirty Dingo adapter plates seem to be a good option but there are several types and nobody specifies which "Dirty Dingos" they are using. here are two options I see:

I'd like to keep the I6 towers if possible but don't know what combination of mounts to connect the adapter plates to the towers.

I'd like to keep the option of the stock low mount AC compressor. Open to new towers if that is what is required.

I'd like to reuse the stock driveshaft if at all possible.

Another option is to go with this CPP kit:

Looking hard at this kit:

Would love some feedback if anyone has experience with it. I think there is a better chance of using the stock low AC bracket and having the manifolds clear the perches.
