What is this 3rd wiper link hole?

Hey all,
Has anyone ever noticed that the cowl has a spot on the passenger side for the a alternative wiper link mount?
I have a 56 Chevy with the wipers that start in the middle and sweep center outward.

Did these trucks come this way from the factory? Or was it an out of country thing? Or???

I didn’t find anything on it.

Re: What is this 3rd wiper link hole?

I figured it might be an out of the country thing. But I looked at flipping the links and the driver side would have to be relocated also to work and there is no location to mount. So not sure.

I was wondering if it was like the old cars and trucks.
That would be different for sure.

Re: What is this 3rd wiper link hole?

I only saw your request in the other thread today, so sorry for the delayed reply. Here are some photos of my RHD wipers. Note that they go in opposite directions, so they cross each other.
If you want some closer images into the cowl to see the linkage, or a video of them operating, let me know.

So its like the old 55-57 chevy cars. do you mind posting a picture of the linkage? is there a pivot for the passenger side to wipe the other direction???

Re: What is this 3rd wiper link hole?

Hey guys since I could not see the post as I could not download the pictures I thought I would attach them. My work computer will not show photo bucket or hosted pictures.

I hope you can show the mechanism as I am thinking about changing my truck.
Thank you Scott

Re: What is this 3rd wiper link hole?

Yes I noticed the same on my 69 c10 and thought it was probably for a right hand drive mounting point. And hi first c10 any chance you can send me a nice right hand drive c10 over to the uk I'm real jealous I'm in a left hand drive one in the uk and feels like I'm driving down the footpath lol

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I have now recorded a video of the wipers, focusing on the linkage. https://youtu.be/-e9NVS_5Muo
I hope that it is of some help.

thank you for the video! I think this would be cool. I need to figure out the bracket at the wiper motor. Any old parts trucks locally to you with the passenger wiper arm and linkage????

Nice! It even squeaks like my non-RHD truck except for the 3 nanoseconds after I lube the linkage.
