c20 to c10 conversion?

I am looking to change my c20 over to a c10 and was wondering if i have to change the whole front suspension over. I would think that the upper and lower control arms are the same, so i figure maybe i could just change out the drums and whatever else right there and that should be good right?

Re: c20 to c10 conversion?

Are you converting to disc brakes at the same time?

C20 lower control arms are different than C10 lowers.
The balljoint hole in the C20 lower control arm is larger.
(Upper and lower balljoints are also different)

63 C10 will be 6-lug drum brake.
The 5-lug 'burb suspension will require you to change to disc brakes.
(Master cylinder and porportioning valve also)

Re: c20 to c10 conversion?

Early Classics has a lower control arm ball joint that fits the C20 arm and the C10 spindle. I believe they have the tie rod end conversion as well.
I am doing the same conversion and am using all the C20 equipment but converting to lowered C10 5 lug spindles and disc brakes.

Re: c20 to c10 conversion?

Resurrecting...( a really old thread) , But there's some good information here.

Since my '68 is a C20 what are my options (staying 8 lug) to get disc brakes up front? ...and a drop?

Ideally I would like to drop the truck some and also get disc brakes. I believe staying 8 lug (since I am finding some 8 lug wheels I like) might be the easier route to go since I could just stick with the rear axle I have now.

Also, ...a major kudos to LoLife99 (Kieth) for putting this together:
Convert to disc brakes.

A huge help indeed. Thanks!

Re: c20 to c10 conversion?

www.performanceonline.com sells 8-Lug drop spindle kits.
That’s the best option for disc brakes and a correct method to drop your truck.
