large 40 gal Aero tank question

I need to drop my tank. It is the bolt through the floor and tank style with long carriage bolt from the top and I am assuming the flat washer on the underside is the nut (center fits 3/8 drive). I know the nut will not come loose today but may with a few days of wd-40. If not anyone have luck with grinding the head off the bolts and driving them from the top and have the nut come off the tank that way? Then I would just use threaded rod to re install.

WD-40 isn't very good at penetrating rust. Try PB Blaster, or you can make your own from a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF. Supposedly that's the best rust penetrant there is.

I got lucky and was able to get in between the two rear bolts and cut.Only had one in front, grinded the heads off all three and pound them through.Never had a problem with it haggin on with three.Soaked for awhile but no luck so got it out that way.Aero is still in business.

I had to grind the heads off from the top. I tried soaking for weeks. Stripped the 3/8 drive hole and ended up giving it to another board member and he drilled them off from the bottom.

Seems like a pattern. I ground off the heads and 3 dropped out fine. The last one is being a real bear.

Re: large 40 gal Aero tank question

I had one come out easy. The other three I had to grind the heads off. Tank came out easy enough. I was never able to remove the bolt remnants from the sleeves in the tank.
