Re: Jans 53

Been slow to start on the body work. Wanted to have plenty of room for radiator and fan so I moved the motor back further than most. This required me to modify the firewall. I like the original firewall and didn't want to change the stock look so this is my solutionName: IMG_1206.jpg

Re: Jans 53

had some 14g sheet metal laying around a decide to make new front floor board, the original wasn't in as bad a shape as I thought it would be, oh well too late now. Didn't need the battery or brake fluid access anyways so if nothing else it cleans the floor up.Name: IMG_0604.jpg

Re: Jans 53

It's been slow going but I finally tackled the drivers side rear corner replacement. I've been dreading it because I had a bigger hole cut out than the patch would cover so, I bought 2 to piece it together. Did the usual wrestling with the patch but no matter what I did the figment was way off so I decided to cut It in pieces to make it fit to my liking. Cut it in five pieces before I was happy with it.Name: IMG_0629.jpg

I ordered mine through Summit Racing or they can be ordered directly from NVU.

Norcal, I too am using a Mustang sending unit. Does Summit take the info from you and drop ship the unit from NVU with recalibrated sending unit?

Jemezcrusher
Yes I ordered mine from summit and gave them the information about my sending unit. The first time it wasn't changed and I had to send it back, it may be better to order direct if possible.

Re: Jans 53

Spent a couple days making some tools to start banging some dents out. The banging didn't last long before my neighbor across the street showed his disapproval by beating on something in his back yard with a bat every time I paused...took me a while before I caught onto his tantrum.LOL. So I've taken a break this week. The temp for the week has been between 103 and 111 today, so it was a good time for a break.

man that's too bad about the neighbor...I've got some fellow car guys in my neighborhood so its not too bad and we all try to be respectful of everyone. With that being said, with all our kids and projects, and our houses butt up again a field so its not the most quiet.

Man i hear you about the heat. Lost the compressor in my A/C unit last thursday. (thank god it only got to 105 today vs the 108 forecast ) The wife and i have decided to replace the whole unit. That's going to take a nice chunk out of the truck budget. Anyway stay cool and hopefully you'll get your neighbor off your back.

Just wish he would have walked across the street and we could have come to some sort of an agreement instead of crazy behavior.

Re: Jans 53

Ordered some epoxy primer from SPI on Tues and it will arrive tomorrow. In the mean time I have been making some dies so I can try and stamp me some new hinge cover plates. Im trying to use the same die to stamp both left and right sides......cause I'm lazy and don't want to spend anymore time on these than I have to. So here's some pics of my dies. Any suggestions?

Re: Jans 53

Finally went to the shop and tried my dies out. It went pretty good considering I didn't have any locater pins in my dies yet. Decided to do the hinge opening by hand.

Re: Jans 53

Finally finished my hinge covers and decided to put some time into the truck. I had to do a lot of hammering and heating the rear cab panel to straighten, also decided to add 2 more rear cab braces, man it really stiffens the rear panel. Hoping to get some epoxy on the underside of the cab this weekend.

Re: Jans 53

Today I painted the underside of the cab with chassis paint. Need to decide which undercoating to use. Any suggestions?

Re: Jans 53

Finished with metalwork on the cab this week and applied some SPI epoxy. Time to start the body work. Was hoping to get the cab done before winter but the heat here in CA kinda set me back.
