50's Chevy Long Bed

I just bought a 50's era AD. The Title says 54 and the Vin plate says 54, but the cab is not a 54. The Cab has a Drivers side Vent, but the Doors have the Vent Windows and push button handles.
Please look at the pictures in my Flickr Albam and tell me what you think I have.
I bought this for $2900.00
I plan to put this on an extended Cab S-10 Frame, not sure if I will go with a LS or old school 350 SBC. I would like it to be an Automatic.
Please look at the pics and give me your opinions on the condition and what I should do as far as repairs.
Thanks.

Re: 50's Chevy Long Bed

Not a 54, split front windshield. Does it have the gas tank filler hole on the riders side behind the door? If not it's around a 48 if not, newer. 51-53 has push button doors with vent windows. My 48 has the drivers side vent, but no hole in it. Overall, not a bad truck to build from. Good luck and welcome to the fun.

Re: 50's Chevy Long Bed

cab is a 48-50, like 8man said, the 47s had a filler in the bed side and no cab tank.

looks like you are missing the inner fenders and the core support, they can be found.

what the heck is this? is it steel?

Re: 50's Chevy Long Bed

Thanks for the replies.
It does have the passenger side fuel filler on the cab.
I did not take photos of every thing that came with the truck.
I do have the inner Fenders, Radiator and Core support (2) hood latch panels, New Chrome Front Bumper w/ brackets. only thing I do not have for sure is the Grill, Seat and Rear Chrome Bumper ( they had started piecing this out before I bought it)
I may not have the door handles tail lights. some trim etc.
I have not done an inventory of what i have, the truck is at my brothers house (70 miles away) as I do not have room until I clean out my Garage.

Joedoh, That is the "custom" Head liner you see in that pic.

Re: 50's Chevy Long Bed

grilles are everywhere, and they repop door handles. look up a door how to on the main page by miraclepieco, he shows how to get the new doors to latch on the old cab, which isnt intuitive and they nobody makes a part to do it.

you will want new taillights too, even if you had some old ones, there are LED versions that look great and are super bright.

Re: 50's Chevy Long Bed

After more research i believe my truck may be a 1950 3600 3/4-ton 3 window with 7.5' bed w/ 3 stake pockets, that is if the bed is original to the cab, with 52-54 doors, not sure about the frame.
