Re: Saddle color trucks

We've got a slick one in the shop for a windshield and back glass today. LS1, tubular control arms, big disc brakes, and everything super detailed. I'll have more pics of it once it's finished and he takes it out next show season.

Re: Saddle color trucks

Is this truck fawn or saddle? It looks to be a '65 and saddle was only offered in 1966.

Ok, one more question. I'm trying to decide between the two colors. Is this truck and suburban fawn or saddle?

I think it looks good and ads a touch of class. Thanks, Tim
It's gone already, owner picked it up earlier today. I'll see it again and post here next time I get a chance to snap pics. I like the earlier trim as well.

That looks very close (atleast on my moniter) to the original Saddle Poly color. Most of the repainted trucks are lighter than the original color. There are sections of the cowl and one of the wheels on my truck that are original paint and it's darker than most repaints.

This one matches my original paint as close as I've seen.

Re: Saddle color trucks

The color of our 1966 4x4 K20 is technically Saddle and Off white. I'm posting a copy of the original window sticker that shows the color. The color is gold in my eyes. This is the original day one factory paint. There was also a Fawn color for these trucks. Jon

now that I look at it closer, I think you might be right...the one Greg was asking about definitely looks very similar to 60-66's K20...I was thinking these lighter colors were saddle, but they're definitely not. The lighting in the pics can make it very difficult to determine colors as well!

in the first pic it looks pretty close, but the second looks totally different (lighter)...just goes to show how much the lighting can throw things off

The color is turquoise and yes it is a factory color. I believe it was used from 1958 to 1966.

I have that molding, it was an option in 1961 only.... very rare and highly sought after. I can post up some pics if ya like. It is stainless instead of aluminum, and the cab corner pieces are different because the piece ascross the back slips onto it.

Re: Saddle color trucks

Thanks 60-66 for posting more photos of your incredible '66 K 20. Hopefully this truck will start a trend to restore these rare 3/4 ton 4X4's the factory correct way. Also, thanks for posting colors from the data books. Most standard colors are year specific while a few common colors carried over into other years. Some trucks came with a special order paint , a "SPC" paint code on kick panel plate, which means it could be about any color chosen by the buyer.

Re: Saddle color trucks

If I'm seeing things correct, the paint code for 65 "Fawn" and 66 "Saddle" is the same--525, though they appear to be different colors. I just had some Saddle mixed for my 66, PPG DBU, it was an offset formula to the 525 code but should have been close. It was so Fawn that it matched the interior color. Anyone have a PPG code for the right color?

My 66 above is saddle and the fawn interior seems to be a very very close match.
