My budget factory location tach on my 71 swb

Hello everyone I already posted in the intro thread but I thought I would post my latest addition to my truck. For starters this truck is a play toy for me and my 4 year old son. Mostly for grocery store runs and burnouts. Lol. It currently has a 300 horse 327 swap and a Muncie, but this winter it is getting a 408 sbc and power glide with a trans brake. We are going to try to stay with the sleeper vibe as much as possible so that is why I took the tach off the windshield pillar and put it down in the dash. What do you think?

And here is the truck it's in

Cool. I've been really contemplating doing the exact same thing. Did you have to re-wire the back panel? If you took any pictures of the process or could share any more, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Looks very nice there, right where GM intended it to be

Nice! Center line-of-sight! perfect. I like your plan for a fire breathing sleeper.

I should have but I didn't take any pics, this tach was just shallow enough to allow the use of the factory circuit board/ribbon. I basically took a 4 inch hole saw through the back panel and the gauge panel, and then used a cleaner to clean the factory markings on that part of the lense. I disassembled the tach and used the face and guts without the lense or "cup". This tach has a built in rev limiter and a shift light which is what the two dials are for.

I'm actually going go take it back apart to replace a couple light bulbs that I forgot to replace, I'll snap some pics while I'm there.
