C10 Lilac Fire Bonsall San Diego

Not mine but attached is a heartbreaking photo to share from yesterday just east of Oceanside California and next to Camp Pendleton Marine Corp base..

Any of you salvaged a 67-72 burnt like this? (meaning I assume just body panels and frame).

Cal Fire did and are doing a good job on this Lilac Fire though..not over yet

Very sad to see, the body panels on vehicles that are burned usually are not saveable because the metal has been annealed /Softened .When body panels are stamped out with a giant press not only do the creases and body lines in the panel will give it strength but while forming it also work hardens the metal wich gives it extra rigidity .After body panels get in a fire like that it's very easy to Dent them they just don't have much strength and therefore are pretty much not salvageable .

Awww....that is sad to see....

I remember reading about how Tom Medley's '40 Ford Coupe was metal worked when his garage burned....came out beautfully, but what a monumental task!
