I just bought a full size Blazer Silverado 4X4 and plan on switching the wimpy tires on it for 33" BF Goodrich All Terrain Radial tires on my poor worn out Suburban. Since the 'burb was a rusted out beater, I never worried about gravel and mud flying off the bigger tires. But, I was thinking about installing fender flares on the Blazer. Looks like I can get a decent price on Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender flares. Are these worth buying? Anyone have these? Do they fit and look good? Any better options? Other comments? Thanks.

If you're looking at extended flares you've gotta cut your fender and such for the them. And how good they fit depends on how nice a job you do cutting i believe. They were always too pricey in my mind to dump on my trucks. If they're selling a set that just come out farther but mount in stock location i could think they'd be useful in preventing rocks and stuff from banging around.

Bushwacker does make "cutout" fender flares too, but the "extend-a-fender" model is supposedly a direct bolt on. I've read some good reviews about them in the magazines, but was hoping for an honest report from an average guy that might of used them or a recommendation for a better brand.

I think that there are several guys over on ColoradoK5 with fender flairs. Some state require them if your tires stick out beyond the fenders.

fender flares are both good and bad.....good because they keep some of the mud off the hood and windshield, bad because they tend to collect mud and road film and therefore cause rust...

rust=bad
mud=washable

Well... there's already a little rust bubbling up around the lip of the fenders (especially the rear). That's another reason why I wanted to use the flares, to help hide this ugliness.
