Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!

***Updated 9/8/17. post #50 starts update

Kid in the red shirt ran a stop sign and T boned me. Hard to believe but her was on his cell phone! Even if the truck gets totaled I will buy it back and start over. Just sucks. 2+ years of my time building it and only got to enjoy it for 2 days.

You have my sympathies, sir. I hope the damage isn't very extensive and the insurance company treats you right.

I sure hope everything comes out ok and they throw the book at him and his pos rice burner. I wish I was smart in electronics and could invent a device that wont let a vehicle move if a cellphone is on or activated.

Totally dig your attitude .
Im going to show my age here but when I read your post it reminded me of the six million dollar man :

Good thing you were not hurt.Things will work out . Hope Mr.Cellphone's insurance pays up

If that was my truck I'd have taken that cell phone out of that kid's hand and smashed it to pieces, then given him the beating of his life. Ok I'm calm now.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!

Ugggh! Damn cell phones! Glad you're ok.

I grew up with a guy who was into Datsun 510s. I mean really into them. He finally got finished with one that he had put tons of work and a few years into just like you. A week after it was finished - rear ended. He pulled the frame back and ran it some more. Over the course of the next 4 years, that little car ended up getting hit 5 or 6 times and every time it was right after he painted it.

These days, whenever I even get the idea that Im gonna paint the '63, I think about Woody and his 510 and decide that its a "forever project". I don't want some jack weed on a phone in the latest disposable import to reduce the last 10 years of my work to nothing. Im seriously superstitious about it.

On the bright side of things, these trucks are nearly completely rebuildable, parts can be had and at least the ricer's paint kind of matched yours.

Again, happy you're not hurt and hoping the insurance doesnt hassle you too much.

Sucks about the truck. That was my fear back in the day. That is my fear every time I take it out.

I drove her last Saturday on the street going to the muffler shop, my eyes were EVERYWHERE, giving her plenty of room for all the other phone users.......

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!

Bought a bunch of parts from Nick at Aspen Auto and got two new wheels and tires (one as a spare). I am waiting on ball joints, bushings, rotor, spindle, etc. I will dig into my truck tomorrow. I anticipate finding more damage.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!

YOLO glad you aint hurt boy. But look at this as a golden opportunity- now you can build that truck back 4wd & the next time Mr Cellfone comes at you the worst he can do is get under you & "Turtle" your truck instead of "Total" it!
I ever tell Yall how much I HATE cell phones???
