Brake system rebuild

Hi all, sorry for bothering with another question, but I'm rebuilding a parts truck from frame up to do a body swap on to and have very little mechanic experience. Matter of fact of I was extremely proud just changing out a freeze plug about a year ago.

I'm currently working on the brakes and am replacing hardware and springs, brake shoes, new drums (was close enough in price for new drums as it would have been to get them turned), wheel cylinders and inner and outer bearings.

I've decided to run new lines as well, and am wondering if brake lines should be 1/4" stainless to all four with drum brakes. If so, I do have some experience bending stainless (usually 3/8) at work. Would it be easiest to just buy straight lengths of stainless and bend and flare them myself?

Also if you have any advice or suggestions (other than disc conversion since I'm weird and want to keep six lug and drum brakes) I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance, I tried searching but got some results talking about larger tubing to the front, but think these results were due to front disc brakes.

Re: Brake system rebuild

I would think you could buy a set of replacement lines much cheaper than bending your own lines,... unless you have the benders, and double flare tools capable of double flaring stainless line.

Check companies like Inline Tube, or Classic Tube.
