Question Is it possible ?

Is it possible to put a 67-72 body on a later model, say a 82 Chevy truck? I just thought it might make the ride and such better.

I hope so!!!

I sure hope its possible to do somehting because I am pretty sure I just bought an ugly purple 82' Truck on ebay. I dont know what I was doing. I want a 67-72, but this one had such a nice set up. If I cant get some other body for it than maybe I will just use all the parts I can to set up the 1st gen, when I get one! Damn thats a lot of money for a parts truck!!!!

My New 82'

WOW!
I'm not a fan of the 73 - 87 trucks, they have always been plain and even ugly in my eyes, but that is a bit on the nice side to use for parts.

That is one hell of a truck for what you paid for it!!!!! You could probably double your money just selling parts!! I'm in central MN, if you need to get it somewhere till you get home. I could probably force myself to drive it up here LOL! It must get all of 5 MPG.

Just got home and read your email and this post. I sure wouldn't tear that truck up you got. I bet you could get pretty good money for it the way it is then find you another truck here.

body/frame swap

I remember asking that very question about swapping 67-72 bodies onto 73-87 frames a while back, and everyone said it couldn't be done, that there are too many differences in the frames to make it feasible-it's too bad, there are plenty of clapped out rust-bucket 73-87s(at least around here) in the wrecking yards to get donor frames.

Once you lift the body like that anything is possible? Fab a few mounting brackets, I think the wheel base is the same. I have seen Chevelles on 4X4 frames and pinto's on Jeep frames!!! they looked like Sh1t but the owner was happy. The truck swap would look better because the rockers coverup where the cars sat on top like they were just placed there with the pans lower than the rockers. JMO

Who said it couldn't be done? I have a 67 body mounted onto a 77 4x4 chassis and I would say there are benefits over the orginal frame. Its not that big of deal to do with a 4x4.

newer frame

There is a 72 4X4 in my town that has been mounted to an 84 frame. The truck has full time 4 wheel drive set up. It looks pretty good.

hey! I've seen that truck driving! I agree, that's a pretty nice parts truck... but tear it up if you think you can cram a 67-72 skin on it!

oh yeah, and...

welcome to the board, from the Land of 10000 Lakes!
