Snow Plow
Sigh. I just put the plow on the truck for the winter. I like taking it OFF in April much more than I like putting it ON in November.
I guess I'm ready. Well almost ready. It appears the solenoid that runs the hydraulic pump is shot. Parts run.

Yikes, snow and salt are rough on trucks.
Its amazing how quick a snow removal vehicle gets trashed.

I have been thinking of starting my own snow removal business. My driveway is large enough to park one and if need be, I could toss a carport over top of it.
As much as I'd like to employ a '67 to '72 Chevy 1 ton, I'd be too fearful the body would be gone in no time. |

Yeah, what they said.....don't do that to a nice old truck. A snowplow will absolutely wreck a truck in a surprisingly short period of time.
Back in the day, when I worked at the 4x4 shop, we actually had a "snowplow surcharge". Extra cost right off the bat because of the headache that comes with working on them. Simple things like brakes, shocks, might result in replacing things like wheel studs and more serious work like ball-joints could be far worse.

If I were able to afford a skid steer this plow would be on craigs list so fast your head would spin.

Most of the older 67/72 pick-ups in South Dakota that have snow plows don't have the front bumper attached. Your truck looks real nice with a small plow.
Yes you are correct about the salt and chemicals they use today on the roads will destroy a truck in no time. We are getting our first round of heavy snow and wind today!

My current project was a service station plow truck its entire life. Not much of it was left including the rear spring hangers!!

I just got in from my first plow job of the season. The truck worked like a champ, pushing around that wet 8 inches like it wasn't there. The brown truck showed up last night at supper time with the new solenoid for my hydro pump that runs the plow. Talk about just in time!

This is my fathers 72 k5, all it has been used for since it was bought new from the dealership is plow snow. 28k on it and the dealership put the plow on the body is rough but for 40 plus years of plowing snow its expected.
