Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Fuel cell tacked together

I put a sump to help starvation of the fuel pump we'll see how it works. The way I have the sending unit it is just below the empty mark.

I still need to weld on the flange for the sending unit and fuel pump.

the sump was an afterthought it was a real mother to weld it in there

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Here is a little update, I was able to get the motor accessories on. I ended up changing the motor color to titanium to match the budnik wheels ill be ordering. I think the warmer color looks great with the brown color.

accessories are from March Performance, the custom series pro-track, I added the billet alternator fan, that will be painted black and the A/C compressure will get a coat of the titanium.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Intakes stripped and repainted with Cerakote, along with the coil covers. I think ill do some satin black on the covers and intake "Edelbrock" and the lines on the coil covers

I had to notch the coil covers to fit around the alternator.

The intake is just set on there to see how it looks.

shot of the accessories, I went with these because they were affordable, but they brought everything lower and having all new components for a piece of mind.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Small update I am waiting for my updated motor mounts from Porterbuilt.

I was able to get the steam ports all re-routed with stainless hard lines into the top of the water pump. this was a slight challenge with the Eastwood pro flare tool you need about 1.5" of straight tubing to create the flare.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Its been a while a little update I reinstalled all of my suspension I went to install the motor and the transmission was hitting the tunnel pretty bad so instead of messing with the motor mounts I just decided to make a new taller tunnel giving me plenty of room even if I decide to do a 4l80 in the future.

The tunnel is just about in a few more fitment things to clean up and get her welded in.

In the process of installing the motor I also scratched my firewall, this got me thinking of updating my color choice.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Update!

I got the motor in! the trans tunnel worked I have a ton of room! the motor fit no problem.

The steering just cleared the headers I'm so glad they fit they are mid-length Headman C10 LS swap headers.

Fuel cell brackets have been cut and broke. I will bolt these to the bottom sides of the frame rails for easy removal of the fuel cell if needed.

I have started the process to flush mount the booster/master cylinder to the firewall since I put a nice scratched in it. Its been a pain in the ass the Brake pedal/booster support inside the cab is offset to one side, I will basically have to cut is all back and remake the booster side. more pictures to follow as I work on it. I will smooth the firewall on the driver's side and maybe do some bead rolling work.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Update

Well, I was able to get the booster/master cylinder in place. This seem to be uncharted territory, I see a lot of people with flush mounted boosters just no info on how they do it. I tried to keep mine setup like the factor system and location.

The stock bracket is more in line with the steering column, which mounted the booster off centered.

I cut off the end of the old booster support which did not line up at all with the flush mounted booster. I then offset it and welded it to the original support bracket.

I plan on supporting the lower column from inside the truck, I ordered a boot for the exterior to keep everything looking clean.

The firewall will be re-skinned with some nice bead rolled panel.

The last picture is just a picture of the floor in primer, no seam sealer or bodywork.

Re: my 86 Backhalf'd SWB c10

Im waiting on a few things for the fire wall, i was able to get the mounts tacked on the fuel cell and rivnut it to the underside of the frame. The rear longer mount was to tall so i will have to design it and cut another then add it to the fuel cell. Now i can start the hardlines to the motor and figure out the full neck.

Good work! Glad to see that you got it moving forward again. Good updates. I wasn't on the forum when you started this project, but I've enjoyed reading through the build thread.
