split rims

please help I have a 1965 c-30 dually dump truck. It has the stock 7.00 18s split rims and I want to go to a new style set of rims, we put a standard 16inch dually rim on it w-out a tire and it was two close to brake line & grease zerk on top, looked like rim needed to move out to make clearance. Is their a stock rim that will move it out and the lug nuts are flat, do I need tapered. thanks

Re: split rims

Welcome to the forum!

I swapped wheels off a 92 3500 onto my 69 c30 a few years ago.
One issue with clearance I found also was that the newer wheels wouldn't fit the rear brake drums.
I used 2" spacers front & rear. A lot of people aren't comfortable with spacers, but in my experience I used this truck as a farm truck hauling heavy loads and never had an issue.

eBay. There's tons of them out there.

Re: split rims

If I came into a good C 30 with 18" multi piece wheels and wanted to go with solid wheels, and originality was important to me, I would go to the period option, the 19.5" solid. Qverall diameter 8-19.5" tire is equivalent to 7-18" tire. They are hard to find, but they are out there. However, they must be '60-'70 year model small stud hole wheels, '71's and newer wheels are designed for disc brakes with larger stud holes.
