lets see some 3/4 tons!!

anyone have 67-72 3/4 tons? my grandpa had a 68 with a 250 i-6 a sm465 4spd and a eaton ho52 or 72 rear end. the old sixes dont get much love these days. that was the most reliable truck ever. drove it to 389,000 on the original motor, replaced that with another 250 and drove it for another 100,000. original tranny, clutch, and rear end. replaced the locker once. anone have anything similar? any good stories?

Here's mine, it gets used like a truck and it's fun to drive! Now I just need to do a little body work and a paint job

Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

just a 350 with a th350 that my Dad rebuilt years ago for His truck. He can't remember exactly what He did to it, (He is 94 years old) but it runs good, has a slight lope and will knock your head against back of the cab when it grabs 2nd!

Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

not a "good" story, but I bought mine off the original owner. Guy bought it and used it as a work truck, then when he didn't want to work anymore, his son drove it as a work truck. I bought it complete with giant bed rack, and damaged floor. I actually bribed them to take it off.

me: "soo...what about the rack?"
seller: "Yup, comes with it. I wanted to keep it, but it's a lot of work to take it off, so I figured I'd just give the new buyer a sweet deal and throw in a free rack."
me: "Ah...well......If I threw you like $50 extra, would you take it off and keep it?"
seller: " uh...sure, I can do that!"

True story

I'm sure the old man I bought it from would die if he knew I put 22s and air ride on it. I know he'd like the cushy heated leather seats and power windows, but this 80 year old didn't seem like the "dropped and bagged" type.

Currently has the 350/350 combo, with the eaton HO52 rear end. I have an LS/4L60e sitting in the garage waiting to be put in. Keeping the eaton, just going to tub it with some 33" tires

As it sits, I drive my truck about 3-4 times a week which includes 65+ mile trips to work and back (even drove it today). Hauls the quads/bikes on the weekends, and if I could ever get the space in my garage to pull the engine, it should haul A*S with the LS in it.

No. Noticably smoother ride with that air cushion acting as a shock absorber between cab and box.

That truck is still very original, and has low miles, but they have been some hard miles. Lotsa poorly-maintained Forest Service roads up in the mountains, sometimes in very deep snow.

Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

Sorry about that, 4spd, lil 307 thats been blue printed so i guess you can call it a 350 lol. Dana 44's, 6" suspension lift along with a 3" body lift, running 35" bfg's for now. Looking to go to 36" tires, had 40" hedge hogs and this thing was just too unsafe.
