Picked up a highlander, project begins

Hey guys so I bought a 2nd 72' this one is a highlander. It has some rust in the outer rocker, floor looks solid, torsion boxes, bottoms of the doors. I'm going to strip it, paint the same blue or maybe switch to hawanian, haven't decided yet. The beard seats are going and factory will replace them, I'll do them in 671 grey plaid, the Door panels are original but painted black, so I will try and strip them and re dye them parchment or go for some repo's. Interior will stay mostly stock to the SPID, I'll change up the stereo and build a full cage.

The engine is a 383 with a 700r4 and a 205, brand new vintage air. Plan as of right now I'm going to pull the 383 and 700, replace it with a 418ci Ls3 I have at the shop and a 4l80e. During that time I'll swap a set of 1-tons and 4-Link it front and rear with coilovers.

Should be fun, for now I'm going to start gathering my interior, axles etc and enjoy the truck while our weather here is beautiful. Enjoy some pictures, I spent the day polishing it. Couple pictures as I was polishing and the finished product

I appreciate the offer but I bought this truck for its SPID, condition, good parts and that I can drive it while I collect parts. Thank you though

Looks like a good start! Your SPID is nearly identical to mine, plus skid plate. Cool truck and great plans for it.

I'm on board! Did you find a set of buckets? I may have a set to part with (from a Highlander actually).

Very nice Blazer, well opted too. Would look sweet with blue and white highlander seating...

I missed a set on Craigslist and haven't come across another since. Pm me what's you'd want for them

Thanks for the compliments guys, not much as changed on it, I put a set of plugs in it and a Holley double pumper I had at the shop as the carb it had started to leak. I'm in the process of selling my house and buying a new one so life's been hectic haha.

Thank you, your truck was quite literally what started me on my quest for a highlander. Mine is a 671 so it will be a grey/white plaid. I was so jealous of your wax pencil marks when I saw this truck still had them I about pee'd haha.
