Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

My son wanted more storage,we built a box for under his bed.
and the finish was looking thinned...
just the mattress ontop of 3/4 plywood
stained/cleared to match his set

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

Ok, I got it pretty well finished this weekend. It was harder than expected and more expensive, but what isn't these days. The unplanted pots on the mounds are my wife's and I guess she'll get around to putting them in some day.

Also I cast this in aluminum to replace the original shift knob that came with the truck.. The casting is still on the sprue.. Needs to be cut off, drilled and tapped yet..
With the swamp cooler, I used a 5 gal bucket as a reservoir and a 12v bilge pump to recirculate the water over the pad... This proto-type was used for testing different type pads for air flow volume and temp data... Using PWM speed controllers, air flow and and water feed are controllable from 0-100% ... On a dry day it'll deliver air at 24-28*f below ambient air.. When I say dry I mean 2-8% humidity, with an average of 6% at days end..
Max air flow on this model was 8-10 cubic ft a second.... Measured with a cheap anemometer at +/- 3.5%.. and depending on what pad was being tested... Even with the error factor, the temp. shift between conditioned air and ambient air should be close to accurate.. This morning 10:30 ambient air 92*f humidity 13%, fan on low, air off the cooler 66*f...
My 24/7 shadow couldn't go with me in the summer because of the heat, and the fact that sometimes she needs to stay in the truck for a short time... With this she sits in a cool breeze and keeps an eye on me and we both feel better...

That should be cool enough...

I took a class on metal casting and made a few pieces. I really enjoyed it. Nice piece...

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

Here is the sheath that I made out of the leather that woodwright sent me. Thanks again woodwright! My neighbor has made sheaths before so he helped me out by showing me how to do each step. He even had some dye that he let me use to finish it off with. The sheath is held together with Chicago screws that I found at my local fleet supply store.

I hope you like it, but I repair Double Basses for my Rockabilly friends and do some Pinstriping as well:

A usual Sunday at Casa Rockin' Kees

Many, many more Pinstripe pictures, if you want to see some, just ask!

Thanks for looking!

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

They look great, Kees! Please, post the other pictures, we are always interested in seeing more! I've been wanting to learn how to pinstripe for quite awhile, maybe I'll give it a try in the near future.

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

Wow, you do some fine work my friend! Is the Hot Rod/Rock-A-Billy scene pretty big over there in the Netherlands?

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

Thanks!

The Hot Rod scene is not so big, unlike Scandinavia or Great Brittain, but there are many American cars overhere.
But the Hot Rod scene seems to be growing the last couple of years.

Same for the Rockabilly scene, I am a Rocker my whole life and you just come across the same faces every time

Re: Let's see your homemade crafts!

I built this sailboat a couple years ago

It made the cover of the Traditional Small Craft Magazine last year

I also carve half hull models. This one is on the side of my shop
