54 Chevy 3600 "Destiny"

Well this is my 3600 "Destiny" that I bought in Aug 2010. I've tinkered with her a bit here and there but have decided that it's time for me to finally get serious about her build.

I've always wanted a 54 or 55 gen 1 Chevy. Mainly because they are just a bit different in appearance from the others. My goal with her is to convert her into a daily driver (hopefully by Aug of this year). It will be a slow build as I learned the hard way last year that it often takes more time to go back an redo something that didn't turn out right the first time.

I have already had her subframed with a 75 Nova front clip and rear end. I'll most likely do some mild modification to those but not starting there. Right now I'm woking on my doors.

I'll try to post pics as the build goes along and welcome any advice that the more seasoned builders would like to share. And now for the pics!!!!

Re: 54 Chevy 3600 "Destiny"

The first picture above was how she looked when I brought her home. The second was from yesterday after stripping most of the paint off the passenger door. The third was from today after going over the door again to get the rest of the paint off. The 4th and 5th ones shows a gap at the bottom of the door that I'm welding up. I'm definately a better grinder but with time I'll get better at welding.

I plan to eventually shave the door handles and install bear claw latches. the following links/pics show what I plan to get. If there's anything I overlooked please let me know so I can add it to my order.
