Re: Hijack Thread
Well ,the old farmer called me today at lunch and said if I was buying his truck it had to be bought and removed today after work. I called my buddy and told him to bring our trailer so I could finally get the deal done . When we got there the old man said I didnt know you were coming today ,LOL. This was by far the strangest deal to get over with but we brought the truck home . Its a 70 ,short stepper ,6 cylinder ,3 on the tree and this old guy bought it new . I paid a premium price for it but origing ,one owner trucks that have not been molested are hard to come by . Now its mine to play with.

Re: Hijack Thread
And you chased that one for 25 years? That's persistence. It sounds like the guy had memory issues too.

Re: Hijack Thread
Just watch out for his uncle Vinnie, who is going to come and break your thumbs for getting that truck ahead of him.
On a more serious note, I had a '40 Chevy business coupe that I sold a guy back in the '70s, who watched two guys fight over who was going to get to buy it, even though it wasn't even for sale. Crazy. It had a 350/400/3.91 posi axle, with a front straight axle and a Belgian velvet interior that my dad had stitched up. It was a nice ride, turning low 13s. It really floated at high speeds, though. Those things weren't meant for that kind of speed.

Re: Hijack Thread
You've got to admire a guy that would buy a truck after 25 years of waiting till the old timer was ready to let loose.
But then again the same guy that would buy an old beat up 4x4 ranch truck from the high desert of CaLiFoRnIa when the seller tried to talk him out of it. All I have to say is congratulations John on your new Stepper. You are a man that knows what he wants! Re: Hijack Thread
I have big plans for the Stepper , power steering is on the way ,Offy intake and 4 barrel carb coming too ,and headers . Disc Brakes soon ,already ordered the Booster /Master combo ,lowering spindles not far behind that .Also thinking about a 5 speed instead of the 3 on the tree .Got a seat cover already . Then just clean ,buff and drive .

Re: Hijack Thread
40+ years I've owned and worked on GM cars & trucks. I'm sure all of us has touched just about every part on our trucks. Today I noticed something I've never seen before. While going through boxes of stuff, I found an "8-350" fender emblem with broken studs. Looked at the back side and saw a tiny bow tie near the 400 part #. I've seen dozens of these, yet never noticed the bow tie. Thinking I might need new glasses.
