Hey Blake, Hope you had a good Christmas and Holidays!
How's your truck coming?
Mine is going slow... but...SLOW...The money has been flying out by the thousands toward the project over the last few weeks and it looks like I aint done an "effin" thing!
Got the engine, it had two broken exhaust bolts, I thought I would have to take it to the machine shop but I found an extractor at home depot and it worked! I warmed the aluminum around the bolt a little and the tool jerked it right out!
I ordered the cam, it is on backorder till the end of the month
Ordered the carb style intake, carb, and air cleaner for LS engines by Edelbrock, ordered new timing gear
MSD plug wires... high output oil pump...Headers...transmission, torque converter, adapter, flexplate, and mount, and wiring harness.
Somebody took off the starter, alternator, power steering pump and their mounts so I had to buy all that stuff new.
Had to buy a new F-body oil pan(with windage tray and oil pickup) because the truck oil pan hangs too low.
WOW!! Big bucks and I still can't do any thing right now to get it going.

Should be able to kick ass on it the end of the month though.
See you soon, we'll go have tacos de lengua!

Nice job pulling the broken stud! Sounds like that is going to be a bad boy engine too! Just wonder how you make the engine fire without the fuel injectors? PCM reprogram? Just curious,

Sweet - we try to get down there once a year, so I'll stop by (usually Oct).

My truck is not doing much - I tinkered around a bit yesterday some, but I really need to get some momentum here in the next few months.

Since I started my projuct I've picked up two more projects, so I need to get something out of the garage

Thanks Guys... Sounds like you all got really full plates! I know the feeling and I only have one hot rod project going. But anyways good luck on yours, they look good, and keep us posted.

You can get the carbureted control system for LS engines from Summit, Edelbrock, or GM Performance. Looks like they are pretty hot in drag racing and circle track. Needless to say I'm excited to get my parts.

Re: New member new Project

Okay, I think I'm getting it after seeing the pics. It looks like the sytem has a different dampener that triggers a crank sensor to fire the timing. That is a pretty cool setup. That is going to be bad to da bone!

Re: New member new Project

OK... i'm ready for the engine components, down to oil pump and timing gear, but the cam is still on back order. Allright I'll do some body work in the meantime. Weldedn in roll pan and primed. No, I did not fabricate the roll pan myself like a lot of you fab geniuses, I "woosed" out and bought one from "Grumpys".
Next week I will do a road trip to get most of the remaining parts.

Gracias Amigos

We did some mocking up of the engine and trans today while waiting for the cam. Will take measurements and get the driveshaft shop going on the new two piece driveshaft tomorrow.
