72 Gas Tank

I need to order a new gas tank for my 72 truck because its been sitting for years. What all do I need to order besides the gas tank? A sending unit? I know 72 gas tanks are a little different than the 67-71, so I want to make sure I order the correct stuff. Thanks.

Re: 72 Gas Tank

You didn't state C10 or C20. There is a difference in the tanks.

Tank. Sending unit. Grommet. All new lines.
The old lines rust on the inside.

Re: 72 Gas Tank

Ok, so I tried doing my research.
Specter from rockauto is best repop tank. According to this site.
Still a debate on EEC or not. Gas smell maybe possible if you dont hook up vacuum can.
Get new line set somewhere. Don't matter. They all come with one piece that doesn't match up.
It sounds kinda easy. I just hope it gets done right the first time.
Fuel system seems to be finicky. It has to be done just right it seems
Does anyone have some more suggestions?

Any thought about relocating the tank to the bed? I went with a Boyd’s welding tank and couldn’t be happier.
