12 bolt Rear End Info

Is there any reason a 1965 GMC 3:73 12 bolt with leaf springs rear end not work on my 66? I currently have a 10 bolt and understand the 12 bolt is a good upgrade even if its not posi.
Appreciate the info.

66 with a 10 bolt?

66’s has 12 bolts stock. Mounts would be the only consideration.

Re: 12 bolt Rear End Info

A 65 GMC 12 bolt will be exactly the same as a '64-'70 Chevy 12 bolt aside from having leaf spring mounts as opposed to trailing arm mounts. I do make the trailing arm mounts if you end up needing a set.

The 12 bolts i found local is leaf spring. The 10 bolt I have currently is trailing arms.
I didnt know if the 12 bolt was worth grabbing or just keeping the 10 bolt. But it sounds like the 10 bolt I have isnt stock so I am curious what it came off of.

Re: 12 bolt Rear End Info

You need to take a close look at the GMC rear and make sure it is not a Dana 44. They were in a good bit of them. I have trailing arm12 bolts if you need one and a Dana 44.

Re: 12 bolt Rear End Info

Nope that's not a Dana. Looks like a car or maybe a S10 rear.

Re: 12 bolt Rear End Info

No need to go all the way to Nebraska. He does need a good 12 bolt.
