orig paint 70 swb - outstanding in its field

on the road to pick it up today...

the good:
- 100% original paint (nicely sunburned) and perfectly straight body
- custom trim
- short fleet
- original CA black plates
- clean title (non-op since 1991)

the bad:
- it's a rolling shell (no drivetrain or interior)

BUT it came with a complete (bumper to bumper) 69 long bed with a 396 that i'm going to pillage so i can bring this one back from the dead!

i'll be driving most of the day, but i will post pics when i get there...

Looks real solid Is that MT Shasta in the background? I love the scenery in the west. What is your thought on a drive train?

Have fun with it.

Nice trucks...Did you haul a double trailer with you or are you doing the trip twice?

Great looking truck. Was the short bed a big block when new?

Nice looking truck. It would almost be a shame to part out the blue one, it looks pretty nice.

it was a fun trip, i borrowed a 2nd trailer from a friend and my brothers truck. my dad came along to drive the 2nd truck, which was awesome because i don't get to hang out with him much these days. great scenery too.

i think i was having trouble because all the pics on my iphone are named "image" so maybe the site couldn't handle the same filename???

Have fun with it.
both were originally small block trucks. my initial plan was to dismantle the long bed, get the short bed on road worthy with the 396/400 (no major upgrades), and part out the rest of the lwb.

but as i look them over i'm re-thinking... the lwb has 5-lug disc brakes and sway bars i'm going to swap out with the swb 6-lug drum suspension, get the lwb road worthy and sell it as a driver.

for the swb i'm thinking replace with original gold interior, 350/350, static drop, and some of these... i'm open for comments/suggestions on everything!
