Re: Nice truck, not mine

I saw a nice truck and thought I'd talk to the guy someday. Finally did, and he said he sold it two days prior....

I'd drive that, it makes me miss my old 57 panel just a bit.

I don't get it ? ? ?
You folks dig this one, but hack on the K10 under this one ? ?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=763375
Is it cause its a TF instead of an AD ? Them tires are really hangin' out there.
I dig the heck out of BOTH of em'.
That's the look I'm shooting for in my next one. Will be seting on a 79 K10.
I like it !

Re: Nice truck, not mine

the couple inches of width difference between a AD and TF makes the TF more suited to full size truck axles....I'm not a fan of tires hanging out from under the fenders because the axles are to wide...that's what I got when I put full size 4x4 axles under my AD...a 4x4 front axle is about 3in wider than the rear making it look even worse on a AD..and the rear axle has the tires hanging out on a AD as well....just doesn't look right,,, don't like it...that's why mines going back to 2wd when I rebuild it...

Re: Nice truck, not mine

Style today is to drop a truck but I remember and still appreciate a good gap between top of tire and fender opening. I don't think the 2wd AD's in the linked thread look bad although I think the truck without running boards looks a bit funny.

If a truck is swapped onto a 4X4 chassis and the axles are too wide the saving grace for me is usually aggressive tires and ugly panels, suggesting something that actually plays hard or works. If I'm looking at a pretty truck I usually appreciate the efforts to make the tires fit inside the fenders.

The truck above obviously gets used. The paint isn't too shiny, the tire treads are worn down, and there's a ladder attached to the roof rack. Very cool to see a truck still being used as a truck.
