floor or trans mount shifter?

looking to pick up a lokar or gennie shifter for my 59 and was wondering which one would be better? the truck has a floor mounted shifter at the moment but i seen they offer the floor and trans mounted ones.

and would it be better to get the single bend or the double bend one?

Re: floor or trans mount shifter?

I've used both, the foor is cheaper and not as sturdy unless you reinforce the floor. In short I put the tranny mount in my 57. and I used the floor mount in my streetrod.

Re: floor or trans mount shifter?

When I converted mine I used a 67 Camaro shifter mounted on the floor without any problems. Had to modify the detent plate for the additional shift point.

Re: floor or trans mount shifter?

I used a Locar trans mount in mine. I really liked the way it mounted. Easy to install and looks good to.

Re: floor or trans mount shifter?

it does look good in your truck. i think i'm going with a trans mounted set up, now to decide if i want the swan neck style like the above pic or the single bend shifter

Re: floor or trans mount shifter?

If your running a bench seat the double bend works better for clearance for the middle person.
Iv'e got the single bend and will be changing to double.
