Broccoli
Man I can not stand broccoli, I know its super good for you but blech. I also cant stand cauliflower or big chunks of cooked carrots. Heck there are tons of veggies I cant stand.
But I do like green beans, corn, peas and a few others. How come when you go out for dinner the "seasonal" vegetables are almost always in the big yucky three? Are they the cheapest to grow or something? Even when you have some sort of frozen dinner it seems like one of the big yucky three are in there ... are they trying to kill me??? We were having dinner at my oldest sons place awhile back and he fixed brussel sprouts (those things should be illegal). C'mon dad just try them, the way I cook em you cant even tell they are brussel sprouts. EXACTLY! They are so disgusting you have to cover them with everything in the spice cabinet and catsup to make them edible. Ok rant off. Im going to have mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and chicken ... KFC, the way Americans are supposed to eat =)

Re: Broccoli
Only way I can eat carrots is cut up in my homemade stew. Otherwise forget it. Cauliflower & broccoli are OK but I rarely eat 'em.
Now, my dogs are fed all three..... chopped up carrots, broccoli, & cauliflower, mixed with slightly warmed up ground beef and a raw commercial chicken product. Then I stir in premium dry dog food, and sometimes add a little milk. Twice a day, every day. They both have food allergies and can't have a lot of stuff I used to give them. Who ever heard of dogs that can't eat pork, turkey, eggs, or apples? Well that kinda went off-topic....

Re: Broccoli
Well,I love Broccoli!Steamed with a little cheese sauce.
Asparigus is good too. And,okra!I grow my own. No cauliflower(but my wife mixes it with the broccoli) But,I can't stand squash! No way,no how! Then, there's rutabagas.terrible stuff!Same for eggplant. To me,these are all "fillers".Cheap food that restaurants serve to fill you up before you get the little bitty steak! My wife can make some of it taste good, but usually says-"Just eat it"! Mike. |

Re: Broccoli
Broccoli and cauliflower stink to high heaven, but are delicious with cheese on them. Carrots taste best raw, green beans are tasty cooked with some salt. Lima beans will make me vomit. I will eat a mixture of steamed vegetables if none of the above are on the plate for the meal. If you eat a balanced meal you don't need any so called "diets" or supplements, and you will rarely get sick. So simple, yet not many people do it.

Re: Broccoli
LOL! We were seriously poor at times when I was a kid and liver was super cheap. Mom would make it and fry up some onions for dad. They both loved it but realized we didn't so they didn't force us to eat much of it. We did have to eat a few bites because that's all the meat we would be getting.
She also made something called boiled dinner. Cabbage, potatoes and a ham hock all boiled up in a big ol pot. Again they knew we hated the boiled cabbage (damn that was nasty stuff) but once we ate a small amount we could stuff ourselves on potatoes and the little bits of ham my mom pulled off for us. Geeze kids are spoiled these days haha!

Re: Broccoli
Broccoli , cabbage/ brussel sprouts and cauliflower are all cool season veggies Start earlier in the spring and later into the fall so they cost less . Eating in any restaurant isn't about how good the food is ,It's all about profit . Eat at home , Take your lunch to work you'll save money and feel better

Re: Broccoli
When you raise kids on fast food eating dinner in the back seat with a sack full of fake nuggerts and honey dipping sauce and they are over weight sitting on the couch with some sort of electronic gadget in the hands who do you blame the kids or the parents for raising them that way !
Eat your broccoli CG or there's no new truck psrts for you ! |

Re: Broccoli
Broccoli is actually one of my favorite veggies... cold with a little ranch, or in soup, or steamed... good stuff
I am a bit of a broccoli snob as I don't like the stalk, just the florets I don't even know what brussel sprouts are? They look like tiny cabbages and they stink. When we were kids my dad told us they were Puppy Brains... yeah, that helped us to want to eat them...

Re: Broccoli
Wrap Asparagus with Bacon and cook it on BBQ Grill until Bacon is done! OH MY I can eat it every day. I like Broccoli in Chinese food good stuff or steamed with cheese sauce. Vegies are a acquired taste and it helps to have a Great Cook around when your introduced to them.

Re: Broccoli
I like it all, try 'em with red wine vinegar and salt, maybe a little butter. The way my great grandma made them decades ago.
