Fusible link Question

My 71 K-5 had a fusible link that ran from the battery cable to the little block on the firewall, it was removed and there is just a wire there now. I was wondering what kind of fusible link I need there or can I just use an inline fuse? If I can use the fuse I need to know how big it is.
Thanks in advance!
