What to use for lubricant?

Putting the 327 and SM465/NP205 setup together for the 68 4X4 burb.
What is the correct lubricant to use on the clutch splines and throw out bearing?

nothing!! I never put anything on them since the dust would collect on them and might make them stick.....kinda like brake adjusters....I do put a dab of grease in the pilot bushing/bearing but it more of a help assemble thing

Don't want that lube slinging out and getting on flywheel or clutch friction surfaces either.
If anything, maybe a dab of anti seize?

I would replace the throwout bearing at the least before putting it back together. The clutch fingers look like they have some wear on them, and I believe the original type clutch would have been a diaphragm, so if you don't know how good the clutch is you might want to replace the works and get the flywheel surfaced. I know, one thing leads to another on these, but it is a lot easier to do it once.

I second that! I made the mistake of not replacing the clutch and throw out bearing when I was a kid, I replaced the engine in a 70 I used to have, about a month later the bearing took a dump and I had to pull the transmission outside, in the rain, in the dirt! The parts aren't that expensive, replace them now or you may end up pulling it apart later!

A very light coat of high temp wheel bearing grease on the input shaft where the throw out bearing slides and also the splines where the disc rides.

I just dab a tiny bit of graphite on the pilot bearing, and a light brush of high temp grease on the input shaft where the clutch disc slides.
