Parking Brake: 3500HD with a NV4500 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi guys,

I picked up a 1995 3500HD with a NV4500 5 speed in it, but I'm having some trouble with the parking brake. This is the model with the drum attached to the back of the transmission. The previous owner disconnected the cable because it was frozen.

I got the new cable in, but there must be some part missing. Just wondering if someone could share a picture of a complete brake set-up on one of these trucks.

Look in the 92-93 LD parts books I posted. There's kindof a blowup there. Better than nothing. The HD chassis is close to the motor home and forward control chassis so you may be able to find some info that way.

Thanks for the reply... I see your from up in Wentworth- My family has a cabin up in Dorchester, on River Rd.

I ended up finding a GM diagram... Of course the piece isn't available anymore, but I found one at an RV shop.

Shaun1162. Welcome to the 3500HD club! I have one we use and a couple for parts. Other than some early frame issues (March 94 and older), these were good trucks. I politely call them GM's cross breed truck. Pickup cab and clip (mostly) and medium duty chassis. Anything you need is usually available because of the wide following on either end, cab or chassis. If not new, then used.

Just a FYI, there is a 3500HD website that deals with 3500HD exclusively. Its 3500hd.com Nice smaller website. Lots of good reading.
