Drop shocks for lowered 87?

I have 2-1/2" drop spindles on my 87 SWB. Can I run stock shocks and be ok or do I need to find a shorter shock due to less travel distance?
If so, recommend a good drop shock? Is there a shock at Advance Auto/CARQUEST, etc. made for another vehicle that will substitute?

Re: Drop shocks for lowered 87?

I just did a 4/6 drop on my 81. I used Mcgaughy's lowered shocks. I ordered mine from Jegs for 39.00 each and free shipping.

If you have drop spindles only then you don't need drop shocks. If you intend on going with shorter springs later then order drop shocks.

Re: Drop shocks for lowered 87?

a stock length shock is the correct shock for this application. I like how the Monroe sesna-tracks perform on a lowered truck for a more "stock" feeling ride, and QA1 adjustables if youre into handling.

Re: Drop shocks for lowered 87?

I have 3" spindles and 1 coil cut off the stock springs and just put on a set of the Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks (37049) and they work great.
