My new truck - '76 GMC High Sierra K15

I bought a new truck yesterday!

It's a 1976 GMC High Sierra K15 shortbed stepside. It was custom ordered with a 400cid small block, 4x4 automatic transmission, Posi, AC, PS, PB, dual exhaust, dual batteries, dual gas tanks, tach+gauges. It was a garage-kept one-owner truck and only has 74,000 miles. The original owners manual was in the glove box, and it came with the original sales invoice and a folder full of maintenance receipts.

I love it!

Re: My new truck - '76 GMC High Sierra K15

Here's the original invoice for the truck. It's so cool to have this part of its history.

Anyone know what the "10-15 M/S (5)" is all about in the options list?

I would guess tires. Mud / Snow tires including the spare.

Very nice truck.

Re: My new truck - '76 GMC High Sierra K15

I was sorta surprised to find the SPID in the glove box and not under the hood. Also strange that the "10-15" stuff shows up three times on there.

I noticed it parked in front of a business near my house for the last month or more, and I had been meaning to stop in and ask about it. Then on Tuesday afternoon I saw it parked on the main road with a sale sign in it so I stopped to check it out. I went back at 7:45am Wednesday morning with cash in hand, took it for a test drive, made an offer, and drove it home.

I feel like I stole it because it was less than the original sale price.

Probably once for front tires, once for rear tires, and once for the spare.

Pretty awesome to find a truck in that sort of condition. What are your plans with it? The only major thing I could think to change would be to swap on a set of 15x8 factory steel wheels.

I don't really plan on doing much to it for now except test it out and see what it needs mechanically. This morning I spent a good amount of time cleaning up the engine compartment and checking it out more thoroughly. It looks to be in good shape, but I have started a short list of small things to work on. One thing I want to do for sure is change the mirrors to regular stock chrome mirrors.

It looks much better without the "Extend-A-Mirror" brackets.

Can anyone tell me if these are factory mirrors?
