55 Fuel Tank Question

This is my first post here and hope I am not repeating old convos. I have a 1955 Chevrolet pickup that has had the drivetrain from a early 90's full size Chevrolet pickup. They mounted the fuel tank for the donor truck in the bed. I am assuming so they could use the original fuel pump and lines for the throttle body fuel injection. I am looking at putting a 69 Mustang tank under the truck. Is it feasible to cut out the part of the fuel tank I have where the pump mounts and have it welded into the Mustang tank so that everything will work without much modification? I don't know if it matters but the truck is running Dakota digital gauges. Thank you in advance.

NO! Cutting or welding on a used tank is a good way to die, although there are "cheater" way to try It in extreme circumstances. Many aftermarket tank people make the tanks with provisions for in tank pumps. I used Tanks Inc.

I have a Mustang tank under the bed, with an external fuel pump. Currently running a carb, so when I make the jump to fuel injection will have to replace the pump with a high flow pump, but an easy swap.
