I believe I've got it as close as the kit will let me. According to the chart a metering rod I don't have might be worth trying, but other than that I'm satisfied. I changed to the pink springs and that made a HOOGE difference all around. I had an off idle issue I didn't even realize till I put them in. Right now the truck is performing better than it ever has the entire time I've owned it, that probably means something is about to let loose. I appreciate everyone's input! |

Re: Tuning edelbrock carburetor
Some cams will struggle to have much vacuum at idle.
Might make sure the vacuum advance pot on the dizzy is working. A bad one can really mess up part throttle response. Sounds like it is time to put a few miles on it and let it tell you if it still needs more tuning. Might check the plugs in a few hundred miles and make sure the color looks good. |

Re: Tuning edelbrock carburetor
1404's are 500 CFM.
1405's are 600 CFM. I use a 1404 on the 292 L6 in my '68 C/10 Stepside. I have a Carter AFB 9605S [=Edl-1405, 600 CFM] on the 350 V8 in my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500. I prefer manual choke.
