What Trans Dipstick and Tube?

Guys,
What are you using for the transmission dipstick and tube for a 65 5.3 with a 4l60e?
Thanks

I'm planning to use the one I got from the transmission's donor, a 2008 1500 Silverado. I haven't mounted the cab yet though but wasn't anticipating any problems.

Yeah I was just wondering what's wrong with the stock one......is it a clearance issue?

Re: What Trans Dipstick and Tube?

When I got my motor and trans (2003 Tahoe, 5.3 Flex, 4L60E) the dipstick tube had been broken at the mounting tab that goes under the transmission bolt. I got a new one from a GM dealer and used the original dip stick.

It has cleared the cab and A/C unit on my 85 C10 with no issue.

I've had the regular truck version and the van version. Same thing just the length difference. The truck version hides away a bit, the van version is easier to check without leaning over all the way, but sticks out over the passenger side a bit.

I used an fbody, it puts the handle tight to the passenger side of the motor.

Can you see the red handle??

Re: What Trans Dipstick and Tube?

When you do get a dipstick it should read full when the fluid is even with the pan gasket.
