Burb lift gate cables instead of brackets?

I feel like someone had replaced the lift gate brackets/arms with cables on their burb and did a thread about it, but I'm not finding a thing. Anyone?

Re: Burb lift gate cables instead of brackets?

I just installed a gas strut kit from Brothers on my lift gate. If it wasn't for one screw that wouldn't give up, the whole thing would have been done in 5 minutes. Very easy install, and they work awesome. Just unlatch the gate, and it rises up to the top on its own. No lifting,or bouncing the gate at the top to make sure both mechanical latches are engaged...

The kit was nice and saved some measuring, but it would be easy enough to take a few measurements and source the gas struts and ball pivots separately.

I have the parts for what I call the hatch, the upper part with the glass in it. Got them using the posted link. Thanks for posting it up, excellent thread for those that missed it first time around.

I was looking for info on the drop down tail gate.

CG - I did this to my suburban. I think there are quite a few pictures in my build thread and the part number for what I used.

I think the ones I used are off of a mid-90s truck, but they don't appear to be any different than the ones on my 2017 Silverado...

Make sure you measure where you want your gate to sit

Before mine was torn down had a set off a newer chevy truck gate cables and they were a had short for my liking and you had to sometimes hop up to sit on the gate depending on where the rear bags were at
