Been working on my '68 C10 LWB for a little while now.. figured it was time to share.

Picked this truck up last summer, ended up driving it for the summer and when wintertime came around it was time to get to business. Was a good driver that looked good too. Had been resprayed at some point in its life. The bed was pretty well rotten in the wheel wells, and the floor supports were pretty shot. Rocker panels weren't bad really, but the cab corners were. Fortunately it could have been worse. Truck has a 307 small block with a turbo 350. 56,000 miles on the truck and I believe them to be original. We pulled the bedsides and ripped out the steel floor. Ordered all the hardware for a wooden bed and all the wood. Took the bedsides and tailgate to a buddy to do the basic metal work on them to take some of the load off the painter. With the motor out, tore it down a little bit to replace a leaky rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, head gaskets, etc. Right now just waiting on the body shop to send me back the frame so I can drop the motor back in and they can spray and rehang the truck.

And this is how it is sitting right now. Waiting for the body guys to spray the engine bay and then hand it back so I can put the motor back in.

Hi from a fellow '68 fan. Can't wait to see the end results. That color is one of my favorites in our series.

Truck looks pretty good in that first picture, and making great progress. Congrats, coming together really well. Keep up the work, looks like you're getting closer by the day now! Love those 68's LWB (just bought myself one about a month ago now)!

stock valve covers would look better imo, also buy a oil filter adapter to get away from that canister filter

Stock valve covers are being put back on! These were put on for storage as I had to paint valve covers separate.

New seals all around. Compression was in spec so it just got the full gasket kit. I didn't want to drop much money on the 307 considering it's just a 307. Have a spare 350 laying around in case it's ever needed, but with the low miles on the 307 I wanted to toss it back in to keep original for now. So it was just resealed and repainted.

Thank you, at first we were back and fourth on the color, debated on painting it a different color. We decided on putting it back to original, it is a unique color and you don't see many of them. I think with the wooden bed we are installing it will be a very sharp color.

Do you have any suggestions on an adapter? This is something that I would like to look into, but I was concerned with the reliability.

GM Part # 3952301 (often cast with#3952302)

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-3952301 ...I just noticed "not available" on Summit, but easily found on Ebay.
