Big Block

With it's A.I.R. no less. Is that air cleaner original or a Corvette unit?

Check the spid in the glovebox to see if it had a factory radiator overflow. I'm just curious to see if that was aftermarket installed or factory installed.

I wold guess, air cleaner came from something else, A/C is aftermarket, and IDK on the overflow tank, but would guess add on by someone.

That' A.I.R. not A/C. See the big line and diaphram behind the pump? Also the tiny skinny belt? A.I.R. is an emmissions thing.

My 72 longhorn big block has the same air cleaner. It looks like just the lid was chrome originally. I will have to look but I am pretty sure it has the same overflow as well. Have no idea if they are factory but would guess with two of us having the same thing it is possible. LOL

Richard

here is a link to my longhorn. they look the same to me

Re: 72 Burb 2wd 402 400 posi rear on coils tilt

My research says that a BB suburban should have a Dana 60 rear axle. The ratio would have been on a tag bolted to the cover.

G80, obviously is positraction.

It seems M49 is for automatic trans. TH350 if it is a small block, TH400 if it is a big block.

Duh, I 'm a dummy. I should have noticed from the spid that this is a 1/2 ton truck. I was working from the assumption it was a 3/4 ton.

I think there is a code stamped into the top of one of the axle tubes for the gear ratio. It is probably easier to just pull the cover. Stamped on the ring gear will be the ratio. Something like 41:10

You got a nice Suburban there!!! Even if its been hit by the rust belt i'd still keep her and fix her! If the floors are good still at least and all you have to do is rockers and maybe supports try and rebuild her and it'll look great!!
